People with a busy family and career life desire peace and simplicity, minimalism and hominess. It is not always easy for them to match their grandparents’ inherited cabinet with a modern interior. Yet these people also need the warmth, domesticity and memories of the past.There are two design specific motivations for the combination of a modern basic frame and an old piece of furniture:

* Old furniture radiates authentic warmth and affection.

* Minimalism radiates simplicity and peace.

By combining these qualities into one piece of furniture we get a new perspective on the possibilities of contemporary design. The design accents of old and new neutralize each other and balance the different characters of the furniture. The ecological aspect is also important: whereas an inheritance mostly ends up in recycling centres, it gets a new life in this design.

This double piece of furniture consists of a standard minimalistic cabinet made of waterproof high gloss lacquered MDF and an old element which is kept in its original state. The minimalistic element functions without grips by means of a trapdoor. We use standard sizes due to serial production and the old piece of furniture is adapted to them. Shelves or sections can optionally be provided in the modern part.

In case of large orders the cabinet can entirely be created out of new materials by using authentic types of wood without the use of an old piece of furniture. Of course an individual design is also possible: then it’s for the customer to decide how his old cabinet is reconstructed into a new one with the old touch.
